Newborns
A newborn photoshoot should be a wonderful experience, capturing precious memories for you to look back on in years to come.

Being a mum of three children, I know exactly how hard the first few weeks with a newborn can be. Holding the session within your own home offers more relaxing and convenient surroundings. Breaks to feed, change and settle your baby are completely expected, so I won’t rush the session – I would rather wait around a little longer to get the perfect shots to make your beautiful newborn gallery.

The style of shots I take are all very natural looking. Please don't worry if you're camera shy, I don't ask you to look at me, my focus is to capture you interacting with and cuddling your baby, with some direction from myself. By the end of your session, you'll be a pro and you'll want to do it all over again!

A few of your questions answered....

When should I book my newborn session?
Ideally, book your session as soon as possible but not until after your 12-week scan. I will make a note of your due date, so all you have to do is let me know when baby arrives and we can confirm a date and time. The best time to photograph baby is before they are two weeks old, ideally between 7-10 days of age, however any time up to six weeks is fine as sometimes things don't go to plan.

My baby is a few months old and I've just found you, would I still be able to have a newborn session?
Yes, please get in touch with me to discuss.

Where does the session take place?
In your home. I am a natural light photographer, so a room in your house which lets a good amount of natural light in from either a large window or patio doors is a perfect setting. If you would like some shots in your nursery or main bedroom, I will try and cater for this too.

I don't live in Warwickshire. Will you still come to me?
Yes of course, I just ask for a travel fee to cover the cost of my petrol.

How long will the session last?
Normally up to 2 hours, as the session is led by the cooperation of the baby.

I have older children. Can they be included?
Absolutely, but they won't be included in every shot. Please bear in mind that young children in particular lose interest very quickly and sometimes might not even want to take part, but I will do my absolute best to get some shots when they do pay attention.

What should I wear?
Great question as what you wear will make a huge difference. Colours that look great: white, cream, beige, grey, muted pinks and blues, denim. I would pick mum's outfit first and then decided what everyone else wears. Please avoid bright, bold, dark colours and distracting logos.
For baby, it’s better if they wear something that shows off their lovely skin. I have some gorgeous newborn pieces which all clients opt for, however you are more than welcome to use your own baby clothes.
A lot of images will have your hands visible in the shot, so just a reminder to give your nails a quick file and polish.

What if my baby has red spots on his/her face?
I am happy to digitally remove any red spots, scratches or rashes (this also applies to anyone taking part in the session), but I will check this with you during the session. Please give me advance notice if baby develops baby acne. I like everything natural, so flakey skin and milk spots will be left in, otherwise you'll get that fake baby look.

Will my images be in colour or black and white?
You images will be mostly in colour. After viewing your completed gallery, I am more than happy to turn a few of those images into black and white.

How many photos will be in my completed gallery?
Normally between 60-70, but this is dependent on the cooperation of the baby.

Will I be able to buy additional images?
Absolutely, you can upgrade after viewing your completed gallery.

What happens after the session?
48 hours after your session I will upload a sneak peek image onto the client area of my website which is password protected. Within 14 days of your session you will be able to view your completed gallery and you'll be able to choose your 10 images that are included.

How do I book?
Please drop me a message to faye@fayesharpphotography.co.uk and I'll aim to get back to you within 24 hours. Remember to check your junk folder in case my reply has been sent there.

How do I pay?
I take a £50 non refundable deposit to confirm your session and the remaining balance is due on the morning of your session. All payments should be made by bank transfer.
